| 1.) | Course Description: | ||||||||||||
| Library Science at this level is an integrated course designed to develop a student centered program | |||||||||||||
| that focuses on research and recreational reading. The units of study are cooperatively planned by | |||||||||||||
| the librarian, the subject teacher and their written syllabi. | |||||||||||||

| Students shall the opportunity to: | |||||||||||||
| v Be familiar with library behavior, personnel, and physical arrangement of the library. | |||||||||||||
| v Be familiar with the Dewey decimal classification for non-fiction. | |||||||||||||
| v Be familiar with the on-line card catalog. | |||||||||||||
| v Be familiar with internet ethics and on-line search methods. | |||||||||||||
| v Be familiar with use of information legally and ethically. | |||||||||||||
| v Demonstrate use of the following library resources including but no limited to: | |||||||||||||
| using databases or on-line search tools including: EBSCO, Encyclopedia Americana, SIRS, | |||||||||||||
| Discover, Associated Press Photo Archive and the ACCESS Pennsylvania Database. | |||||||||||||
| v Interlibrary Loan in cooperation with the librarian. | |||||||||||||
| v Ability to read computer screen for information. | |||||||||||||
| v Ability to use various search engines. | |||||||||||||
| v Cite sources according to MLA bibliographic form. | |||||||||||||
