Course Name: Spanish I
Grade: 8-12
1.) Course Description:
This course is designed to develop the student's ability in the four basic skills, listening, speaking,
reading, and writing, in their natural order.  Emphasis is placed on the mastery of basic sounds, 
vocabulary and grammar from the basic text, and conversational patterns.  Each lesson contains
youth-oriented topics.  Tapes are used for listening and repeating with accuracy.  From the basic text,
the students learn about the Hispanic culture.
Prerequisite: Students with a good working knowledge of English grammar (85% average) and 
above average reading skills (85% average).

v     Use thematic vocabulary in the target language in both written and oral expression
v     Conjugate in the present tense regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs and several basic irregular verbs
